Accounting software firm Xero has announced it will conduct a fresh review into its handling of a misconduct complaint against its founder and former chief executive, Sir Rod Drury. The company stated it has retained external counsel Maria Dew KC to lead the independent investigation.
The review follows reporting by Stuff in late 2025, which revealed allegations of misconduct against Drury and raised questions about the company's initial internal handling of the complaint. Xero has stated it is "committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for all our people."
Sir Rod Drury co-founded Xero in 2006 and served as its CEO until 2018. He stepped down from the company's board in March 2025. The specific nature of the misconduct allegations has not been publicly detailed by the company.
Maria Dew KC is a senior barrister with experience in employment and governance matters. The outcome of her independent review will be reported to the Xero board.
