Meta whistleblower Sarah Wynn-Williams and the late Virginia Giuffre have jointly won the Freedom to Publish prize at this year's British Book Awards, marking the first time the award has been shared, according to multiple news reports.
Wynn-Williams, a former Facebook executive, was recognized for her memoir 'Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism,' which details her experiences at the social media giant. Giuffre, who died in 2025, was honored for her memoir 'The Billionaire's Groom: The True Story of My Life as a Sex Trafficking Victim,' which recounts her experiences as a victim of Jeffrey Epstein.
The award, presented by the Publishers Association, celebrates books that promote freedom of expression and challenge censorship. The joint win was announced at a ceremony in London on May 11, 2026.
