Wrexham AFC manager Phil Parkinson has stated that planning for the summer transfer window is currently "on hold" as the club focuses on finishing its first season back in League One. Speaking ahead of the final match of the 2025/26 campaign, Parkinson emphasized the immediate priority is the upcoming game against Bolton Wanderers.
Parkinson's comments come amid media speculation linking Wrexham with a potential move for Burkina Faso international and former Luton Town defender Issa Kaboré. The 24-year-old right-back is currently a free agent after his contract with Manchester City expired in 2024, following a loan spell at Luton.
"All the talk about the summer is on hold," Parkinson was quoted as saying by the BBC. "We've got to focus on the game on Saturday and finish the season as strongly as we can." The manager confirmed the club has a list of potential targets but will only begin active recruitment once the season concludes.
Wrexham, co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, is set to finish its first season in the third tier in a mid-table position. The club's recruitment strategy will be crucial as it aims to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion to the Championship in future seasons.
