Luke Woodhouse secured his first Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) title by defeating Andrew Gilding in the final of the 2026 Players Championship event on May 19, 2026. The match, held in Wigan, England, saw Woodhouse win 8-5 in legs.
Woodhouse, who had previously reached two PDC finals, expressed relief after finally breaking through. 'It feels amazing to get the win,' he said in a post-match interview. 'I've been close before, so to get over the line is a big relief.'
The victory earned Woodhouse £12,000 in prize money and moved him up the PDC Order of Merit. Gilding, a former UK Open champion, was aiming for his second PDC title but was unable to overcome Woodhouse's consistent scoring.
