Rima Butler is set to make her State of Origin debut for New South Wales in Game II of the Women's State of Origin series, after Tiana Penitani's knee injury forced a reshuffle of the Blues' forward pack. The Sydney Roosters prop will join coach John Strange's bench as the Blues aim to clinch the series.
The NSW team was named on May 5, 2026, with Butler replacing Penitani, who suffered a knee injury during Game I. The Blues currently lead the series 1-0 after a 14-12 victory in the opening match.
Queensland also named their squad for Game II, which will be held at Suncorp Stadium on May 15, 2026. The Maroons are seeking to level the series and keep their hopes alive.
Butler, 24, has been a standout for the Roosters in the NRLW this season, earning her first call-up to the Origin arena. Her inclusion adds depth to the Blues' forward pack, which will be crucial in the high-stakes encounter.
