A woman and her young child have died after getting into difficulty in the water at Elthorne Park in Ealing, west London, police have confirmed.
Officers were called to the park just before 4:30pm on Saturday, 25 April 2026, following reports of a woman and a boy in distress in the water. Both were recovered from the lake and taken to hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
The Metropolitan Police said the deaths are not being treated as suspicious. The woman, believed to be in her 30s, and the child, thought to be around four years old, were from the local area. Formal identification is yet to take place.
Emergency services, including London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade, attended the scene. A police cordon remained in place around the lake on Sunday as investigations continued.
Local residents have expressed shock and sadness. The park, a popular spot for families, remained open but with restricted access to the water area.
