According to the latest data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for 2026, Morocco's GDP per capita is approximately $3,900, which is lower than that of Nigeria ($4,900), Egypt ($4,600), and South Africa ($6,800). These figures, adjusted for purchasing power parity, place Morocco behind these nations in per capita terms, explaining its absence from the top of such rankings.
While Morocco has made significant economic strides in recent years, including investments in renewable energy and automotive manufacturing, its population of over 37 million dilutes the per capita output. In contrast, countries with smaller populations or higher productivity, such as Botswana or Gabon, often rank higher on a per capita basis.
