Wakefield Trinity prop Emre Guler has been handed a two-match suspension after being sent off for punching Leigh Leopards forward Owen Trout during his side's 26-16 Super League victory. The incident occurred in the closing stages of the match, and the Rugby Football League's match review panel subsequently charged Guler with a Grade C striking offence.
With the ban, Guler will miss Wakefield's remaining Super League play-off fixtures, ruling him out for the rest of the season. The club has not yet indicated whether it will appeal the decision.
The 26-16 win keeps Wakefield's play-off campaign alive, but they will now have to navigate the knockout stages without the influential forward. Leigh, meanwhile, will be without Trout for their next fixture after he was also charged by the panel.
