Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan's reshuffled cabinet has been sworn in at Government House in Melbourne. The changes were necessitated by the retirements of three senior ministers earlier in the week: former Deputy Premier and Education Minister James Merlino, former Health Minister Martin Foley, and former Police Minister Lisa Neville.
A key feature of the new ministry is the creation of a dedicated cost of living portfolio, which has been assigned to Frankston MP Paul Edbrooke. Premier Allan stated the portfolio was established to address the significant pressure households are facing.
The reshuffle sees several other MPs promoted to the frontbench, including Natalie Hutchins taking on the Education portfolio and Sonya Kilkenny becoming the new Minister for Planning. The cabinet will now lead the state government into the Victorian state election, which is scheduled for November 2026.
