Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar reviewed crime control measures, administrative arrangements, court cases, and police modernization in preparation for the 'Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0' campaign, scheduled from July 15 to 31, 2026. The campaign aims to intensify efforts against drug abuse in the state.
During a meeting at the Police Headquarters in Dehradun on June 13, 2026, DGP Kumar directed officials to ensure effective implementation of the campaign. He emphasized the need for coordinated action among police, excise, and health departments to curb drug trafficking and provide rehabilitation support.
The campaign is a follow-up to the earlier 'Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori' initiative, which focused on awareness and enforcement. The second phase will include special drives against drug peddlers, public awareness programs, and enhanced surveillance at vulnerable points.
DGP Kumar also reviewed pending court cases related to narcotics and stressed the importance of timely prosecution. He called for modernization of police infrastructure, including better forensic labs and cyber monitoring tools, to strengthen the fight against drug networks.
