Two University of New Mexico (UNM) students have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man near the Frontier Restaurant in Albuquerque, according to police. The incident, described as an ambush, occurred on May 15, 2026.
Police identified the suspects as Alex Martinez, 21, and Sarah Johnson, 20, both UNM students. They are charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy. The victim, 34-year-old Michael Torres, was found dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities say the attack was premeditated, with evidence suggesting the suspects lured Torres to the location. A third suspect remains at large. The investigation is ongoing, and police urge anyone with information to come forward.
