A mobile court supported by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) concluded its session in Mundri, Western Equatoria State, after hearing a total of 30 criminal and civil cases. The hearings took place between 18 and 31 March 2026.

The court proceedings resulted in 14 convictions and the acquittal of 16 accused individuals. The cases addressed included serious criminal offenses such as rape, murder, and assault, as well as civil disputes.

UNMISS provided logistical and technical support for the mobile court, which is part of ongoing efforts to extend the rule of law and increase access to justice in remote areas of South Sudan. The mission stated that such initiatives help build public confidence in the judicial system.

The conclusion of this session was confirmed by UNMISS communications. Similar mobile courts have been deployed in other parts of the country as a temporary measure to address case backlogs and provide legal services where formal court infrastructure is limited.
