Ukrainian forces have conducted a series of strikes on military and energy infrastructure inside Russia and occupied Ukrainian territories. According to Russian officials and Ukrainian media reports verified for March 2026, the attacks primarily involved long-range drones and missiles.

One of the main targets was the Ryazan oil refinery in western Russia. Regional governor Pavel Malkov confirmed a drone attack caused a fire at the facility. This follows a pattern of Ukrainian strikes on Russia's energy sector, which Kyiv describes as legitimate military targets supporting the invasion.

Additional strikes were reported in Russia's Belgorod and Kursk regions, as well as in the Russian-occupied city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. Russian air defense systems were reported to have intercepted several drones over multiple regions.

The Ukrainian military has not officially claimed responsibility for all the specific strikes but has repeatedly stated that targeting Russia's military and logistics infrastructure is a key part of its defense strategy. These operations coincide with ongoing frontline battles in the Donbas region.
