The UK government has announced that more than 100 cultural venues, museums, and libraries across England will receive a share of £130 million in new funding. This investment is part of the Arts Everywhere Fund, a larger £1.5 billion package designed to support cultural institutions outside London.
The funding, described as the largest cash injection into the cultural sector in a decade, is intended to help venues with essential maintenance, energy efficiency upgrades, and accessibility improvements. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) stated the aim is to protect and level up cultural infrastructure nationwide.
Recipients include a diverse range of organizations, from major regional museums to local libraries and theatres. The government emphasizes that the funding will help secure the future of these venues, ensuring they remain open to the public and continue to contribute to local communities and the economy.
