The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) of Uganda has commenced year-long activities to commemorate its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of regulating and developing the country's capital markets. The authority was established by an Act of Parliament in 1996.

During a ceremony in Kampala, CMA officials outlined key achievements, including the growth of the collective investment schemes sector, which now manages assets worth over UGX 6 trillion. The authority also highlighted its efforts in investor education and the protection of market participants.

The development of Uganda's capital markets is seen as a critical component for the country's economic growth, facilitating capital mobilization for both the public and private sectors. The CMA continues to work on new frameworks to deepen the market, including potential new products and the encouragement of listings from diverse sectors of the economy.
