Stephen Davis, an assistant professor in archaeology at University College Dublin (UCD), has appeared in court facing more than 140 charges related to the alleged hacking of students' personal data and harassment. The charges were brought following an investigation by Ireland's national police force, An Garda SΓochΓ‘na.
Davis, who is in his 50s, was arrested and charged earlier this week. The specific allegations include unauthorized access to student data and the use of that information to harass individuals. The case was mentioned at Dublin District Court, where he was granted bail under strict conditions, including that he have no contact with the alleged victims and stay away from the UCD campus.
University College Dublin has confirmed that Stephen Davis is currently suspended from his duties pending the outcome of the legal proceedings. The university stated it is cooperating fully with the Garda investigation. The case has been adjourned and is scheduled to return to court in April 2026 for the service of a book of evidence.
