Senegal's U17 national team coach Lamine Sané has announced a 21-player squad for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U17 tournament, scheduled to take place in Morocco from March 30 to April 19, 2026. The squad was revealed on March 16, 2026, during a press conference at the Senegalese Football Federation headquarters in Dakar.
The Lionceaux (Little Lions) will compete in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Tanzania, and Zambia. The tournament serves as a qualifier for the 2026 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar, with the top four teams securing a spot.
Sané, a former Senegal international, emphasized the importance of preparation, stating, 'We have selected players based on their performances in local leagues and recent camps. Our goal is to reach the semifinals and qualify for the World Cup.' The squad includes key players such as goalkeeper Serigne Fallou Ndiaye and forward Pape Matar Sarr.
Senegal will begin their campaign against Tanzania on April 1, 2026, at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca. The team has been training in Thiès since early March to acclimatize to conditions similar to those in Morocco.
