Senegal's U15 and U17 national football teams, known as the Lionceaux, have been awarded a total of 311 million FCFA by the Senegalese government for winning their respective African Cup of Nations titles in 2026. President Macky Sall presented the checks to the players and coaching staff, praising their dedication and success on the continental stage. The U17 team defeated Mali 2-1 in the final, while the U15 team secured a 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast.
The reward includes 200 million FCFA for the U17 squad and 111 million FCFA for the U15 team. Each player is expected to receive a portion of the prize money, with additional bonuses for the technical staff.
This achievement marks a historic double for Senegalese youth football, highlighting the country's investment in grassroots development. The government has pledged continued support for youth sports programs.
