The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has confirmed that two tennis players have been provisionally suspended after testing positive for the banned anabolic steroid clostebol. Karlis Ozolins of Latvia and Daniil Kakhniuk of the United States both provided samples that contained the substance, according to an ITIA statement issued on May 13, 2026.
Ozolins, 22, and Kakhniuk, 24, were tested during separate tournaments in April 2026. The ITIA stated that the players have been informed of the provisional suspensions and have the right to appeal the decision. Clostebol is a prohibited substance under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code, often used to build muscle mass.
The cases are now under review by the ITIA's independent tribunal. Further details, including potential sanctions, will be determined after the full hearing process. The ITIA emphasized that all players are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
