Memphis police are investigating a double homicide after two men were found shot to death inside a car near the Orange Mound neighborhood on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Officers responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Semmes Street, where they discovered the victims with gunshot wounds.
The victims have been identified as 24-year-old Marcus Johnson and 26-year-old Derrick Williams, both of Memphis. They were pronounced dead at the scene by the Shelby County Medical Examiner's Office.
Police have not announced any arrests or identified a suspect in the case. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
This is the latest in a series of violent incidents in the area. In 2025, Memphis reported over 300 homicides, with a significant number occurring in the Orange Mound community.
