Two people have died after a light aircraft crashed in a remote area near Trawsfynydd, close to Blaenau Ffestiniog in Gwynedd, north Wales. The incident was reported to North Wales Police on the morning of August 15, 2026.
Emergency services, including the police and ambulance, attended the scene. The two occupants of the aircraft were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released, and next of kin are being informed.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has been notified and is expected to launch an investigation into the cause of the crash. The area around the crash site has been cordoned off while investigators examine the wreckage.
