TP-Link has announced that its first Wi-Fi 8 router, the Archer 8, will start shipping in October 2026. The company stated that this will be followed by additional Wi-Fi 8 devices launching in 2027.
The Archer 8 is based on the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard, which is expected to offer higher speeds and improved efficiency compared to Wi-Fi 7. However, the Wi-Fi 8 standard has not yet been finalized by the Wi-Fi Alliance, and TP-Link's announcement is based on draft specifications.
TP-Link claims the new router will deliver significant performance improvements, but specific technical details such as speed ratings and pricing have not been disclosed. The company has not provided any independent benchmarks or third-party verification of its claims.
This announcement comes just over a year after TP-Link launched its first Wi-Fi 7 routers. The company has not confirmed whether the Archer 8 will be backward compatible with older Wi-Fi standards.
