The path of totality will begin in the Atlantic Ocean, then pass over the Iberian Peninsula, including cities like Seville and Cádiz in Spain, before crossing the Strait of Gibraltar and entering northern Morocco. In Morocco, the city of Tangier will experience totality for about 4 minutes and 50 seconds, with the eclipse starting in the late afternoon local time.
In addition to Morocco and Spain, parts of Portugal, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt will also see a partial eclipse, with the Sun being significantly obscured. The eclipse will be the second total solar eclipse visible from Europe in the 2020s, following the one in 2026.
Astronomers and eclipse chasers are already planning to gather in the region, as the 2027 event offers a rare opportunity to observe the Sun's corona and other phenomena.
