SHAH ALAM, May 21 — A total of 59 police reports have been lodged nationwide against former Damansara MP Tony Pua following a Facebook post alleged to have raised sensitive issues involving Malaysia's constitutional monarchy and the Rukun Negara.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the reports, stating that investigations are ongoing under the Sedition Act 1948 and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. The post, made on May 19, has been removed.
Pua, a prominent figure in the Democratic Action Party (DAP), has not issued a public statement as of this report. The case has sparked debate on free speech and the limits of criticism of royal institutions in Malaysia.
