Florida Gators men's basketball head coach Todd Golden has publicly addressed rumors linking him to the vacant head coaching position at the University of North Carolina. Speaking to reporters, Golden directly denied having received an offer from UNC.
"I have not been offered the job," Golden stated, according to a report from Swamp247 dated April 4, 2026. He emphasized his commitment to the Florida program, saying, "I'm the head coach at the University of Florida. I love being here."
The North Carolina job became open following the retirement of legendary coach Roy Williams in 2021 and the subsequent departure of his successor, Hubert Davis, after the 2025-26 season. The Tar Heels' search for a new head coach is ongoing.
Golden, who just completed his fourth season with the Gators, led the team to the NCAA Tournament in 2026. His success has made him a frequent subject of speculation for other high-profile coaching vacancies, but he has consistently reaffirmed his focus on building the program at Florida.
