Scientists from the Charles Darwin Foundation have discovered a new species of deep-sea octopus, described as tiny and blue. The discovery was made while analyzing footage from a submersible in the Pacific Ocean.
One excited scientist was recorded saying, 'He's tiny! It's blue!' upon first seeing the cerulean cephalopod on the video feed. The team is working to formally describe the species.
The octopus was found at depths of several hundred meters, highlighting the biodiversity of deep-sea ecosystems. Further research is needed to understand its behavior and habitat.
