President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), according to a statement from the presidency. Aina, a professor of educational management, will take over from Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose tenure ends on July 31, 2026.
The appointment was announced on May 21, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale. Aina's appointment takes effect from August 1, 2026, for an initial term of five years.
Professor Aina previously served as the Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education and has held various academic and administrative positions. He is expected to bring his experience in educational administration to the role.
Oloyede, who has been JAMB Registrar since 2016, oversaw significant reforms including the introduction of the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) and improvements in examination integrity. His tenure was marked by increased transparency and efficiency in the admissions process.
