Three Senegalese football supporters have been released from Al Arjat prison near Rabat, Morocco. They had been detained since January 18, 2025, following their arrest after incidents during the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) tournament.
The men were arrested in connection with disturbances that occurred after the Senegal-Morocco match on January 17, 2025. The match, part of the group stage of the tournament hosted by Morocco, ended in a 1-1 draw.
Their release was confirmed by Senegalese diplomatic sources and reported by multiple news agencies. The process for their return to Senegal is now underway.
The case had drawn attention to the treatment of foreign fans during international sporting events and involved diplomatic discussions between Senegal and Morocco.
