Three men from the Mayenne department in France are preparing to undertake one of the world's toughest footraces, the Marathon des Sables, for a charitable cause. Enzo Aubry, his uncle Gildas Aubry (50), and their friend Clément Bourdais (28) are set to travel to Morocco to compete in the multi-stage ultra-marathon held in the Sahara Desert.
The team's primary motivation is to raise funds for a young boy named Léon, aiming to provide him with an extraordinary experience. "We wanted to do something together," Enzo Aubry explained, highlighting the communal and altruistic spirit behind their daunting physical challenge.
The Marathon des Sables is a renowned approximately 250-kilometer race held over six days, where competitors must carry all their own food and equipment. The event for which the team is registered is scheduled to begin in early April 2026. Their participation underscores a story of personal endurance dedicated to supporting a child's wellbeing.
