During the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, the Nigeria women's national football team, the Super Falcons, experienced a series of thefts at their team hotel in Rabat. Players reported missing cash, jewelry, and other personal items, with some estimates suggesting losses totaling thousands of dollars.
According to reports from Nigerian media and AFP, the incidents occurred between July 5 and July 18, 2024. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the thefts and stated that an investigation was launched. Hotel staff were questioned, but no arrests were publicly reported at the time.
The thefts added to the team's challenges during the tournament, where they were eliminated in the group stage. The NFF later apologized to the players and promised to improve security for future trips.
