Theatreplan, a leading UK-based theatre and live events consultancy, has announced the appointment of Mathew Smethurst-Evans as its new Managing Director. The move is described as a key step in the company's long-term strategic development.
Smethurst-Evans, who has been with Theatreplan for over 15 years, previously held the role of Associate Director. He succeeds Chris Higgs, one of the company's founding partners, who is stepping down from the MD role but will remain with the business in a senior advisory capacity.
Founded over 40 years ago, Theatreplan specializes in theatre planning, acoustic design, and technical systems integration for performing arts venues worldwide. The company has worked on prestigious projects including the Sydney Opera House refurbishment and the Battersea Arts Centre.
In a statement, Smethurst-Evans said his focus would be on guiding the company's next phase of growth while maintaining its core values of collaborative design and technical excellence.
