MELAKA: A 16-year-old girl slashed her wrist and throat after being barred from meeting her boyfriend, police said. The incident occurred at her home in Banda Hilir around 10.33pm on Wednesday (May 27).
Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the girl had gone to her room before harming herself with a knife. The stepmother, 49, claimed the girl had been stressed after being prohibited from meeting her boyfriend, according to Berita Harian.
The girl was rushed to Melaka Hospital for treatment. Police are investigating the case under Section 309 of the Penal Code for attempted suicide.
