ALOR SETAR: A 14-year-old female student narrowly escaped an attempted abduction in Pekan Simpang Kuala near here on the night of May 13, 2026.
Kota Setar police chief Assistant Commissioner Syed Basri Syed Ali said the incident occurred at about 8.26pm. The victim was approached by an unidentified man on a motorcycle who attempted to grab her. She managed to break free and run to safety.
Police are investigating the case under Section 363 of the Penal Code for kidnapping. They are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Authorities have urged parents to remain vigilant and advise their children to avoid walking alone, especially after dark.
