A 17-year-old boy is set to face court after an alleged joyride in a stolen SUV ended in a crash in Sydney's west on Monday. Police say the vehicle was taken from a home in Doonside earlier that day.
The teenager was arrested at the scene of the crash on Rooty Hill Road South, near the intersection with Eastern Creek. He was taken to hospital for mandatory testing but was later released and charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent and driving recklessly.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. local time. No other injuries were reported. The boy was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Parramatta Children's Court on Tuesday.
