Taylor High School's boys' 4x100 meter relay team secured the state title on May 23, 2026, at the UIL State Track & Field Championships held in Austin, Texas. The team, consisting of seniors Jaylen Smith, Marcus Johnson, and sophomores David Brown and Chris Garcia, clocked a winning time of 41.23 seconds.
The victory marked the first state championship in this event for Taylor since 2019. The team's performance was fueled by a strong final leg from Garcia, who overtook the leading runner from rival school Cedar Park in the final 50 meters.
Head coach Sarah Thompson praised the team's dedication, noting that they had trained year-round and overcame several injuries during the season. The win was celebrated by the school community, with a parade planned for the following week.
