Tanger Med, the Moroccan port complex, reported a 16% increase in revenue for 2025, according to official figures released on May 3, 2026. The growth was primarily attributed to a rise in container traffic and improved operational efficiency.
Revenue reached approximately 1.2 billion euros, up from 1.03 billion euros in 2024. Container throughput increased by 12% to 8.5 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), solidifying Tanger Med's position as a leading transshipment hub in the Mediterranean.
The port authority cited investments in digitalization and infrastructure as key drivers. New automated cranes and expanded terminal capacity contributed to faster vessel turnaround times, attracting additional shipping lines.
This performance aligns with broader trends in global trade recovery, though challenges such as geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions remain. Tanger Med continues to compete with ports like Algeciras and Valencia for transshipment traffic.
