Cédric Prizzon, a 39-year-old French national, has confessed to being the author of a double murder in the Aveyron department of France. The suspect was arrested in Portugal and has been placed in provisional detention by Portuguese judicial authorities pending a potential extradition to France.
The victims, identified as 21-year-old Mélissa and 27-year-old Amandine, were found deceased in the town of Rodez in late February 2026. The investigation, led by French authorities with European cooperation, quickly identified Prizzon as a suspect, leading to an international search.
Portuguese police arrested Prizzon on March 26, 2026, in the Lisbon region. Following his arrest, he admitted to the crimes during questioning by Portuguese officials. The French national prosecution service has confirmed the confession and the ongoing judicial process.
The case is now proceeding through formal extradition channels between Portugal and France. French investigators are awaiting his transfer to continue the judicial proceedings related to the murders.
