A suspect in the deadly 1982 attack on a Jewish restaurant in Paris has been extradited to France by the Palestinian Authority. Walid Abdulrahman Abu Zayed, also known as Hicham Harb, was handed over to French authorities on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
The attack targeted the Jo Goldenberg restaurant in the Marais district on August 9, 1982. It resulted in the deaths of six people and left 22 others wounded. The long-running investigation has been a significant case for French anti-terrorism prosecutors.
Abu Zayed, a former member of the Abu Nidal Organization, was arrested by Palestinian security forces in the West Bank city of Jericho in late 2025. His extradition follows years of diplomatic and legal efforts by France to bring suspects in the case to trial.
French judicial authorities have confirmed his arrival in France, where he is expected to face charges related to the attack. The extradition marks a major development in one of France's oldest unresolved terrorist cases.
