Hyderabad police have arrested a suspect in connection with the hit-and-run incident at Durgam Cheruvu that resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman on April 25, 2026. The accused, identified as Ravi Kumar, was taken into custody on April 27, 2026, following a search operation.
According to police officials, the incident occurred late on April 25 when the victim, Priya Sharma, was crossing the road near Durgam Cheruvu. A speeding vehicle struck her and fled the scene. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
The arrest was made based on CCTV footage and witness statements. The vehicle involved, a white sedan, has also been seized. Police are investigating whether the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
Further investigations are ongoing, and the accused will be produced in court on April 28, 2026.
