Mamelodi Sundowns have advanced to the 2025 CAF Champions League final after defeating Tunisia's Esperance Sportive de Tunis 2-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals. The South African club won the second leg 1-0 in Pretoria on Saturday, April 12, 2025, following a 1-0 away victory in the first leg.
The result means head coach Miguel Cardoso has now equalled Pitso Mosimane's record of leading Sundowns to two CAF Champions League finals. Cardoso expressed his satisfaction, stating he was "very happy, it's absolutely marvellous" for the club and its supporters.
Sundowns will face the winner of the other semi-final between Al Ahly and TP Mazembe in the two-legged final scheduled for May 2025. This marks a chance for redemption after the team lost the 2024 final to Egypt's Pyramids FC.
