Morocco's Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) has issued a weather alert for strong winds, thunderstorms, and locally heavy rainfall affecting several regions of the country starting Monday, April 7, 2026. The adverse conditions are expected to persist through the beginning of the week.

The DGM forecasts strong to very strong gusts of wind, with speeds reaching between 70 and 90 km/h, particularly in the eastern regions, the southeast, and the southern provinces. These winds will be accompanied by dust and sandstorms, reducing visibility.

Thunderstorms and sometimes heavy rainfall are also anticipated over the Atlas Mountains, the eastern regions, and the southeastern parts of the country. The weather service has advised citizens to exercise caution due to the potential for reduced visibility on roads and sudden changes in weather conditions.

The DGM's bulletin indicates that this unstable weather pattern is linked to a depression affecting the region. Authorities recommend staying informed of further updates from official meteorological sources.
