The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued warnings for hazardous conditions across northeast Florida and southeast Georgia for the weekend of March 28-30, 2026. A strong pressure gradient is generating gusty winds, which are combining with dry conditions to create an elevated fire weather threat.

Wind gusts are forecast to reach 30 to 40 mph across the region, particularly on Saturday. These winds will drive high surf and dangerous rip currents along Atlantic beaches, with a High Surf Advisory in effect. Beachgoers are urged to exercise extreme caution.

The combination of low relative humidity and strong winds has prompted a Fire Weather Watch for inland areas. The conditions are favorable for the rapid spread of any fires that ignite. Residents are advised to avoid outdoor burning and to properly dispose of cigarettes.

While no widespread rainfall is expected, the windy conditions may lead to isolated power outages and difficult travel for high-profile vehicles. The NWS advises securing loose outdoor items and monitoring forecast updates through the weekend.
