The Nigerian State House has denied requesting a budget code for the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), contradicting an earlier statement by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF).
Abdulkadri Idris, Director of Administration at the State House, said in a statement that no such request was made. He described the OAGF's claim as 'incorrect' and urged the public to disregard it.
The PFIPC was established by President Bola Tinubu in 2025 to attract foreign investment and promote Nigeria's interests abroad. The controversy arose after the OAGF reportedly said it had received a request to generate a budget code for the council.
As of August 7, 2026, the OAGF has not publicly responded to the State House's denial. The situation remains unresolved, with both offices maintaining conflicting positions.
