According to the ICC rankings updated on August 4, 2026, Athapaththu moved up to third place among batters, while Samarawickrama climbed to 15th. Their efforts helped Sri Lanka secure a 2-1 series victory over the West Indies, which was confirmed by the ICC.
The series win was a historic moment for Sri Lanka, as it was their first bilateral T20I series win against the West Indies. Athapaththu scored 132 runs in the series, including a match-winning 74 in the final game, while Samarawickrama contributed 98 runs overall.
In the bowling rankings, Inoka Ranaweera also made progress, moving up to 12th place among bowlers. The team's overall ranking improved to sixth in the world, their highest position in recent years.
