Sporting CP produced one of the great Champions League comebacks on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, thrashing Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt 5-0 after extra time at the Estádio José Alvalade to win their last-16 tie 5-3 on aggregate. Trailing 3-0 from the first leg in Norway, the Portuguese champions mounted a stunning second-leg turnaround to advance to the quarter-finals.

The home side attacked relentlessly from the outset. Viktor Gyökeres opened the scoring in the 41st minute, and Paulinho doubled the lead just after halftime in the 49th minute, leveling the aggregate score at 3-3. Despite intense pressure, Sporting could not find a decisive third goal in regulation time, sending the match to extra time.

In extra time, Sporting's dominance told. Francisco Trincão put the hosts ahead on aggregate in the 99th minute. Geny Catamo added a fourth in the 112th minute, and Gyökeres sealed the historic victory with his second goal in the 120th minute, completing the 5-0 rout. The result ends Bodø/Glimt's remarkable European run and sends Sporting into the last eight of Europe's premier club competition.
