Spanish authorities have opened an investigation following reports of racist chants during an international friendly football match between Spain and Egypt. The match took place on Tuesday, April 1, 2026, at the RCDE Stadium in Cornellà-El Prat, home of RCD Espanyol.

According to verified reports, a section of the crowd directed chants, including the phrase "Whoever doesn't jump is a Muslim," towards the Egyptian national team players. The incident was widely condemned on social media and reported to match officials.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed it is collaborating with the investigation led by the Prosecutor's Office against Hate Crimes and Discrimination. The RFEF reiterated its "absolute condemnation of any racist, xenophobic, or intolerant act in football."

Egypt's football association has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. The match itself ended in a 1-1 draw.
