The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has extended the contract of Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente until 2032, according to an official announcement. The agreement secures the 65-year-old's position for the next six years, covering the 2028 European Championship and the 2030 World Cup, which Spain will co-host with Portugal and Morocco.
De la Fuente, who took charge in December 2022, has led Spain to significant success. He guided the team to victory at the 2023 UEFA Nations League and followed that with the Euro 2024 title in Germany, where Spain defeated England 2-1 in the final. Under his management, Spain also reached the final of the 2025 UEFA Nations League, finishing as runners-up.
The extension reflects the RFEF's confidence in De la Fuente's project, which has emphasized integrating young talent such as Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams alongside experienced players. His tenure has seen Spain return to the top tier of international football, with a playing style that combines possession with direct attacking.
De la Fuente's previous contract was set to expire after the 2026 World Cup. The new deal ensures continuity as Spain prepares for upcoming tournaments, including the 2026 World Cup in North America and the 2028 Euros. The RFEF has not disclosed financial terms of the agreement.
