Morocco national team defender Souffian El Karouani will not participate in the upcoming training camp for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to reports. The player, who plays for Dutch club NEC Nijmegen, has been excused due to a family commitment.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation confirmed that El Karouani's absence is for personal reasons, and he is expected to rejoin the squad for future matches. The camp is part of Morocco's preparations for the World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
El Karouani, 25, has been a regular in the Morocco squad since his debut in 2021. His absence is not due to injury or disciplinary issues, but rather a pre-arranged family matter that could not be rescheduled.
