SINGAPORE: Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong will make official visits to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan from August 24 to 31, his first visit to Central Asia, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said on Sunday (August 23).

During his visit, Mr Lee will call on Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and meet other senior officials. He will also visit Astana and Almaty in Kazakhstan, and Tashkent and Samarkand in Uzbekistan, according to the PMO.

The visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new areas of cooperation, including trade, investment, and connectivity. Mr Lee will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other agencies.

This is Mr Lee's first official visit to Central Asia since he became Senior Minister in 2024. He previously served as Singapore's Prime Minister from 2004 to 2024.
