Simon Patterson, the estranged husband of convicted triple murderer Erin Patterson, is writing a memoir about the case, his media manager has confirmed. The book will detail his experience and his allegations that his former wife attempted to poison him on multiple occasions prior to the fatal 2023 lunch.
Erin Patterson was convicted in November 2025 of murdering three people by serving them a beef Wellington containing deadly death cap mushrooms at a family lunch in Leongatha, Victoria, in July 2023. She was also found guilty of attempting to murder her then-husband, Simon Patterson, on that occasion and on three prior occasions. She was sentenced to life in prison.
Simon Patterson survived the 2023 lunch but was hospitalized with serious illness. He has publicly stated he believes his wife tried to kill him multiple times over several years. The publisher and release date for his memoir have not yet been announced.
The case, often referred to as the "mushroom murder" case, attracted intense media scrutiny in Australia and internationally due to the bizarre and deadly nature of the crime.
